What is ASME?

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) student section at California State University, Long Beach is a multidisciplinary organization with over 85 active members. Its goal is to prepare engineering students for success industry upon graduation by providing opportunities for professional and personal development.

These opportunities develop the students who join ASME into prominent leadership roles and make them five times as likely to be offered an internship in their freshmen year!

Projects

VTOL Project
(Vertical Take-Off and Landing)

Team Lead: Antonio Lopez

VTOL Project focuses on developing an aircraft capable of both vertical lift and forward flight, bridging the gap between drone agility and fixed-wing efficiency. Students work on propulsion control, aerodynamic modeling, and transition stability, gaining exposure to the complexities of hybrid aerial design.

IAM3D

Team Leads: Kyle Tsai, Alexander Le, Lila, and Eduardo

Design and construct an excavating vehicle competing in a sandpit while unmanned (requiring camera vision) placing small material in a scoring bucket for points. Maintain a Design Report containing design changes, 2D CAD drawings, etc. Scored on material collected + Design Report.
